Who We Are
Open Door is an "inter-denominational" Christian church where people from all kinds of religious and nonreligious backgrounds worship God together. Our doors are wide open, embracing everyone, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. Our heart is, "To worship God and to encourage and equip believers for the purpose of seeing all people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ."

We are committed to bringing you the best in teaching, music, drama, child-care, authentic relationships, and personal integrity, because we want you to discover and embrace the message of Jesus Christ in all of its fullness.

Our Beliefs
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; and that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

We believe that the scripture of the Old and New Testaments are the word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original writings, and are the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that by voluntary disobedience he fell from perfection; and that all people are sinners and need God's forgiveness. Salvation comes only through God's saving grace, not human effort, and must be received personally by repentance and faith.

We believe God the Father is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His sinless life, miracles, and teachings, His death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, and His personal, viable return to earth.

We believe the Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips and empowers believers for personal growth and service to the church. He is abiding helper, teacher and guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit.

We believe that at the end of the age, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Those forgiven through Jesus Christ will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

Our History
Open Door Church held its first service in the Little Theater of the Memorial Building on May 29th, 1982. The church moved through several rented facilities including the basement of the old Delvic Hotel and the upstairs of the Vermillion Equipment Building. Purchasing our first building in the fall of 1985, the little white church on Third Avenue West became our home for almost eight years.

Roland Weaver and his family moved to Hibbing in May of 1985 to become the senior pastor of Open Door Church. During this time, we grew and were "bursting at the seams". Unable to purchase an existing building large enough, we decided to build. We moved into our new facility at Corey Tracts Road in May of 1993.
